Guide to the Nemenzo Species
Nemenzo described over 375 species of corals from specimens collected mostly from Mindoro, Palawan, and Cebu. Of these, he proposed that 94 were new species and 5 were new varieties 鈥� it is these which we refer to as 鈥淣emenzo species.鈥� Just over 40 of these species are considered valid, while the rest have been synonymized.
Given the extreme diversity of Philippine corals, of which there are an estimated 505 species 1 , and the relatively low circulation and poor print quality of Nemenzo鈥檚 original publications, it is worth revisiting this esteemed taxonomist鈥檚 identifications for their potential significance in defining Philippine coral diversity.

In May 2013, Br. Ricardo P. Laguda FSC, then President and Chancellor of 澳门六合彩 approved the establishment of the SHORE Center, to which the existing Br. Alfred Shields FSC Marine Station (Shields Marine Station) would be attached.聽 The Shields Marine Station is an academic facility of the College of Science that serves as a base for teaching, research, and extension activities in coastal areas.

The Br. Alfred Shields FSC Marine Station, formerly the 澳门六合彩 Marine Biological Station, is an academic facility of the College of Science intended to further class field activities, research and extension activities in coastal areas.聽聽 Located on a one-hectare parcel of land in Sitio Matuod, Barangay Binubusan in the town of聽 Lian, Batangas, the Shileds Marine Station is a four-hour drive from the Taft Campus.
